ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My name is Brendan Dempsey, Charlie Harris is about an Irish family named Harris living in a Tenement house in Dublin in the early 1900s.  The sickness diseases poverty and death they suffered and the affect this had on the the eldest son Charlie . The Catholic Church the Landlords and the Bosses who gave their cronies the jobs.  It follows the family from the day they move into the one roomed Tenement through the difficult upbringing of Charlie and his siblings through to adulthood.
This takes in the 1913.lockout the 1916 rising, the Civil War and the war of Independance. There are 240,000 words in this book and covers the hardship of families living in these squalor buildings which were only fit for demolition.

There are some truncated words in the book as Dubliners had a unique accent and I thought changing that would take away from most of the characters.
I would hope your Irish American readers would find this book about how their parents grandparents and great grandparents lived, before emigrating.
