In the Celtic religion, Christ is referred to to as the truly natural one, who has come to restore us ito the original root of our being. As all the great religious traditions have pointed in their distinct ways to the Oneness from which we came and the Oneness to which we long to return , the Celtic tradition views Christ as the One that can lead us to a renowned relationship with our Creator.

J. Philip Newell is a poet, scholar, and teacher. Formerly Warden of Iona Abbey in the Western Isles of Scotland (the current "headquarters" of Celtic spirituality), he is now Writer-Theologian for the Scottish Cathedral of the Isles as well as Companion Theologian for the American Spirituality Center of Casa del Sol in New Mexico. He is internationally acclaimed for his work in the field of Celtic spirituality, including Listening for the Heartbeat of God. He is a Church of Scotland minister with a passion for ecumenical and interfaith dialogue. Canadian by birth, he lives in Edinburgh but travels and speaks extensively in the U.S. and Canada.
