Synopsis

What’s more enjoyable than hearing the tales of an Irishman with a pint of brew in one hand and a good book in the other?.
Sit down with Patrick Quinn and laugh along as he takes you down the trails of his life’s journey. From Inchicore, Ireland in the 1920’s to Hillsborough San Mateo,  CA and  Manila Philippines in 2007. Patrick’s world of adventures is filled with wit and humor. More than an entertaining autobiography, ‘The Flesh of a Dubliner’ is a glimpse into the soul of the Irish.
From modest means, born to a public schoolteacher who later rose to leadership in the Irish National Teachers Organization, Quinn openly confides his thoughts and feeling as he recounts growing-up as the youngest of the family’ of seven children in the suburbs of Dublin, the difficult war years, and this departure for North American and on to the high seas. “Slings and arrows’ hardship and toil, aren’t enough to keep Quinn down; he gets back up every time he’s knocked down and finds a way out of every difficult situation.
As a mechanic with Aer Lingus, in the arctic at a Royal Canadian Air Force base or as a Master Electronics Officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine , Quinn worked to support himself; yet all the while, he saw the world with the eye of an artist and the heart of a poet. After studying under Chilean Classic-Realist painter Luis Busta, Quinn has had many successful one-man shows and his paintings and poetry have won numerous awards. Marjorie Fitzgibbons, sculptor of Dublin’s iconic James Joyce statue says of Quinn;  ”One of the renaissance men of our time… how someone with talent to burn could have got himself in such a tangled web of mystery and survived says much of the man”
